FREE with #KindleUnlimited "Gah. This book. THIS BOOK. I can't remember the last time a book made me ugly cry like Limelight did. A truly incredible story!" - Jamie Schlosser, Author of the Good Guy Series "Alyson's writing is gorgeous: passionately poetic; brutally, yet delicately, descriptive; strikingly raw; and insanely sexy. I'm in awe of, and in love with, Limelight...and Alyson." - Kim Holden, Author of Bright Side
I’m unpredictable. A genius, an underachiever. I’m the song, the voice, the passion, the pain. I am failure. I do music because it’s what I am, but sometimes that’s not enough. A slave to my nature, I wait for it to show mercy and drop a gift in my lap. Because the music chose me. I’m its victim not its gift.
She destroyed my career. Ruined my life. Pushed me from the shadows and exposed my lies. She’s the fire that destroys lesser men, and now her flames are aimed at me. She loves to watch me burn, but the part we never saw coming?
Sometimes it takes a fire to ignite a spark And slay the darkness.

About the Author: I’m a writer, musician, and cat lover. I also have an alternative music obsession. Seriously, it's a real problem. I write what needs to come out, whether it’s pain, tears, or laughter. I write people and relationships, about the beauty and horror of what we do to ourselves and each other. I write Love. Vengeance. Compassion. Cruelty. Trust. Betrayal. Forgiveness. Darkness, and the incredible way humans destroy and heal each other. I like to eradicate barriers, refusing to be confined by the laws of physics or limitations of reality. I will befriend a vast population of possibilities and introduce them in ways that might surprise you. Connect with Alyson! Facebook: Twitter: Join her group: Bookbub:

I've rewritten this review 4 times now. The first was scathing, the second was harsh, third was horrible and this time I'm hoping for less than those three.
I liked the other books in the series, so that's why I'm being so critical with this book. I expected a lot from this author and by reading other reviews I can see that I'm in the minority. I'm usually not one to read reviews, but I needed to see if something was wrong with me or if there was something wrong with the book. Obviously, somethings wrong with me since everyone is raving about how Jesse is such an awesome character and how they loved whats her name...and there's the rub - I read an entire book about a heroine and I don't remember her blessed name. I wasn't rooting for her, nor was I rooting for them. I was just like okay whatever. I understood the addict storyline, I work with substance abusers and maybe that's why I didn't like this book...because I don't want to read about what I work with. There's no doubt this author can write and has a way with the written word. Lyrics on the page just rolled off and they were classically and beautifully written. That being said:
I would also say if you don't want to read a super depressing book that will have you also looking for some pills that will make you happy...I'd suggest not reading this book  - because it doesn't get better. So why 3 stars? Probably why I've scrapped writing this review 3 times and am on my fourth...this might turn into a 4-star review! The author seriously does a good job writing the life of an addict, she writes the life of a musician well, but what she didn't write well or what I thought she didn't write well was the formula for relationships. What woman in her right mind is going to meet a guy for the first time in a bar and she wrote a scathing article about him, ruined his career and she's going to stick her hand down his pants and ask him to take her home with him??? An insane one in my office setting - usually they're off their meds at that point. That's when I didn't even bother to remember Mila's (had to look it up) name. I like realistic, plausible and sensible storylines. Minus one star.
This is probably the first book where if I had just stumbled onto this authors work I would literally have zero interest in ever reading anything else by her again. I'll tell you why - if you think this book is going to have a happy ending...think again. It doesn't. As a matter of fact, it's like the author said "Hey, you know what would be great? Let's have everyone think it's gonna end good, throw in this plot twist that's not a plot twist, take up 8 percent of the book...and kill off a character everyone likes -  ya think?" It doesn't work that way, but others will love it (because people love crying and being depressed) and that's only my opinion and you know what they say about opinions!? So, to sum up...if you want to cast yourself off a bridge after you're done reading a book, then this is the book for you. Minus another star.  That's all I'm saying on that.

I was given an ARC copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.
