Out of Chasing Vivi, A Special Obsession and this book – this book was probably my favorite.  It made me feel more out of all the other books.  I felt sorry for Midnight in a way that I probably didn’t with the heroines from the other books.  She’s had a harder life, she’s been abused, and yet she’s still not playing the victim.  Did this book have a lot of sexual content?  Yep.  Was it to the extreme that I was flipping past those pages. You betcha.  However, there was also a story that was told to counteract any content and made me overlook what was written.  That might seem a little two-faced, and it probably is, but here’s the thing….if you don’t have a story and a darn good one to back up your book – it’s just going to be really good kindling for a fire that I might have to set later.  True story.  But if you have a stellar story, with fleshed out characters and sexual content interspersed throughout…I can flip right over that.  The language – that’s another matter, and I tuned that out.  You learn to do that when reading.  The only time I can’t is when it’s in every sentence or on audio.  It’s something they teach you in college, take from a book what you want and discard what you don’t.
Harrison was probably one of the most likable heroes I’ve read in a while.  He wasn’t over-the-top to me, and I thought that his character was true to himself.  In the other books, he was never really one that you got a read on.  We never got to see his real personality and when we meet him in this – we see he’s an Alpha, but he’s not so much of one that he’s hard to read about.  Midnight and Harrison just fit together.  The author took creative license, but how many times does this happen in real life?  Sexual assault and rape happen to women and men all the time.  Not just in Hollywood, but in real life.  It’s a sad statistic that 91.6% of rape go unreported…that’s only 8 percent that actually goes to the police to report the crime.  Whether it be because they think no one will believe them or will listen to them.  Those numbers should be switched.  The statistics for being drugged on college campuses, at a bar or while out with friends increases two-fold.  This is unsettling.  Maybe it was the same when I was in school, but perhaps it wasn’t because they didn’t have the tools they have now at their disposal…
Overall, this is a book worth reading and if you haven’t read the other two books – that’s okay, you don’t have too, to understand this one.
I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

About A.M. Hargrove

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, USA Today bestselling author, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So she made a quick decision to quit her job and reinvented herself as a Naughty and Nice Romance Author. She fancies herself all of the following: Reader, Writer, Dark Chocolate Lover, Ice Cream Worshipper, Coffee Drinker (swears the coffee, chocolate, and ice cream should be added as part of the USDA food groups), Lover of Grey Goose (and an extra dirty martini), #WalterThePuppy Lover, and if you’re ever around her for more than five minutes, you’ll find out she’s a non-stop talker.
